Sons and Daughters
By: Kenya Gossett

"and the Angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon and said to him, “The Lord is with you, O brave man.” But Gideon said to him, “Please my lord, if the Lord is with us, then why has all this happened to us? and where are all His wondrous works which our fathers told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and put us into the hand of Midian.” The LORD turned to him and said, “Go in this strength of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian. Have I not sent you?” JUDGES‬ ‭6:12-14‬ ‭AMP‬‬

What a huge moment for Gideon. An ordinary day working in the field, suddenly became a day where the door of his destiny unlocked.
He was called a mighty man of valor. Brave. Chosen. and specifically assigned to carry out the plan of God. But what happened when his name was changed? He doubted himself. He tried to think of every excuse he could to get out of what was spoken over him. Yet he couldn't get out of it. Why? Because he was a son of the God of Israel.

Today, I want to talk about our identity in Christ and the power that lies within us. There may be some who are reading this, who like Gideon, have also doubted their calling and trust me when I say that I too struggle, A LOT, with the thought of being chosen.

I find myself asking God, why? Why me? I feel so unworthy and so unequipped. It's easy for fear to grip my heart. But His power and grace, is completed and shows itself more affectively in my weakness. It's not I who lives, but He who lives in me. That is what makes me capable. He is with me: always.

"And those whom He predestined, He also called; and those whom He called, He also justified [declared free of the guilt of sin]; and those whom He justified, He also glorified [raising them to a heavenly dignity]." Romans 8:30 AMP

The moment Jesus gave His life for us on the cross, is the moment our identity changed.
We became His children and it's as simple as that.

"He predestined and lovingly planned for us to be adopted to Himself as His own children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the kind intention and good pleasure of His will to the praise of His glory us grace and favor, which He so freely bestowed on us and the Beloved Jesus Christ. In Him, we have redemption, that is our deliverance and salvation through His blood, which paid the penalty for arson and resulted in the forgiveness and complete pardon of arson, in accordance with the riches of His grace." Ephesians 1:5-7 AMP

“For [as a believer] you have been called for this purpose, since Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you may follow in His footsteps.” 1 Peter 2:21‬ ‭AMP

“Therefore become imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father];”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:1‬ ‭AMP‬‬

What a powerful and humbling thing it is to be called children of God! and to have the opportunity to represent Him and His nature.
That in itself is the greatest calling we will ever have. It's not being prideful to fully walk in the thinking of "I am His and He is mine": it's simply knowing that the cost for you was great and what you now have on the inside of you, is the greatest treasure.

Oh but fear and insecurity will creep in, telling you to run and that's where we are losing the fight. Many today are succumbing to the lies of the devil, aborting the seed that was meant to flourish as something beautiful and mighty. Not realizing, that if they would of by faith accepted the call and their identity, it would of opened the gates of Heaven.

Look at the examples we have in the Bible:
if David gave in to the lies and ran from his adversary, he would of never become the anointed King over Israel. If Joseph gave in to his discouragement and the chains around his feet while in prison, he would of never become 2nd in command over Egypt with a golden chain around his neck. If Esther told herself that she wasn't good enough or compared herself to other women around her, she would of never become a Queen who saved a whole race.

It's because they knew their identity. That is what kept them going. The promise of God was so deeply etched in their heart, that they lived there and operated from that place, as scary as it may have been. It didn't matter what the enemy was doing around them, they were confident in one thing. They were called and loved by the almighty God! Therefore they would be protected, led by His hand, and victorious.

What have you been called to do that is making you run? Because I am here to tell you, oh brave one, that the hand of our Father is on you.
You are His precious daughter. His courageous son. From the beginning of time, He had YOU in mind, already assigned to be an ambassador of the heart and the goodness of God.

I know it's scary to take a step of faith. It's even scarier when you're not quite sure what God has called you to. So if that's the case: hold on to Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you, says the Lord. Plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." He will be faithful to reveal His heart for you. Amen!

Beloved, remember this: the devil will always tell you the complete opposite of what God says. So slam the door on his face, and re-tune your frequency to the heart of Heaven.

You ARE equipped. You ARE redeemed and forgiven. You ARE ready. You can do ALL things through Christ, who strengthens you.

You have gold on the inside of you. You have a mind that is strategic and filled with the wisdom of God. You have a voice that will shake the cores of this earth. You have a heart that is capable of loving those who feel broken beyond repair. You have feet that will gracefully but powerfully touch the nations, giving them the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. You have hands that flow with the healing power of the blood.
In Jesus name!

Don't panic. Don't be fearful. You're dead to that. Because you are a CHILD OF GOD. Awaken to your identity. Allow yourself to change into His likeness. For Such A Time As This.

"For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading again to fear [of God’s judgment], but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons [the Spirit producing sonship] by which we [joyfully] cry, “Abba! Father!”. The Spirit Himself testifies and confirms together with our spirit [assuring us] that we [believers] are children of God. And if [we are His] children, [then we are His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His spiritual blessing and inheritance], if indeed we share in His suffering so that we may also share in His glory." Romans 8:15-17 AMP

"Do not fear [anything], for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you; I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand [a hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation]." ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41:10‬ ‭AMP‬‬
