Fix My Eyes
By: Melody Mohnhaupt

"And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine"-Oceans

Sometimes I feel defeated. I get overwhelmed and discouraged by situations that always seem to fly into my face from out of nowhere. It would be easy for me to throw up my hands in frustration, break down and cry out of hurt, or even get angry and lash out. But what better way to react to those types of situations than to run to our faithful Father and seek his guidance, understanding, and comfort?

It's interesting to me how Kenya and I have been talking lately about how Esther brought her enemy before the King and HE fought her battle for her. HE defended and protected her against those that were trying to come against her and her people. Just as I've been waiting on the Lord to reveal more to me about bringing situation such as this before him, I experience something that, if I'm being completely honest, feels like a personal attack. He is testing me. He wants me to put my money where my mouth is. Will I really trust him and take my battles before him? Or will I take them into my own hands?

Will I use this experience to practice uprightness and purity of heart? Or will I get bitter and angry? Will I ignore the things coming against me or will I seek him and search out what he is trying to teach or show me? Will this make me or will it break me?

As difficult as it may be, we have the choice to either react how HE wants us to react, or to react based off how we feel.

I will never have true peace, revelation or resolved problems if I handle them my own way. Jesus desires us to take our hurts, burdens, and questions to him. HE will go before us! He cares for us! He adores us and and he will always have our back! If we are wrong, he will bring correction in love. If we have been wronged, he will reveal his truth to those coming against us. Either way, HE takes care of us! ALWAYS!!

When we feel like all hope is lost, Jesus is our hope. We need to keep our eyes on him always and seek him diligently! Run to him and rest in him! Don't allow yourself to get worked up over things that trouble you. He is in control. He wants us to be at peace as HE works them out on our behalf. Do we trust Him enough to lay our burdens at His feet? I pray so. Have faith and know that he can't let us down. His heart is for us! We are His. And He is ours!
